Miraculi	**** Sein zweites Album zeigt ihn einmal mehr als guten Songschreiber mit abwechslungsreichen Grooves und dem typisch-weinerlichem Gesang - den ich nun mal nicht so toll finde. TREASURE, MOONSHINE und NATALIE find ich zur Zeit am besten - mal sehen, ob er noch besseres zustande bringt - Potential ist vorhanden ... Michael Jackson allerdings noch etwas entfernt. So ist "Unorthodox Jukebox" wieder sehr solide und großteils sehr eingängig geworden, doch leider fehlen diesmal die ganz großen Hits. Lediglich "Natalie" würde ich noch einen größeren Erfolg zutrauen. Stimmlich gehört Bruno Mars für mich nach wie vor zur männlichen Elite, das Weinerliche darin stört mich nur an wenigen Stellen. "Unorthodox Jukebox", das neben "Halcyon" von Ellie Goulding wohl einen der auffallendsten Album-Titel des Jahres aufweist, wird die Hardcore-Fans von Bruno Mars wahrscheinlich zufriedenstellen, da er seinen Stil wie gesagt nicht geändert hat und mit "When I Was Your Man" auch eine schöne Piano-Ballade dabei ist. Ich für meinen Teil muss sagen, dass mir der Zweitling von Bruno Mars zwar recht gut gefällt, ich das Debüt aber doch noch besser fand.

Zwar hatte auch "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" viele radiotaugliche, aber etwas unspektakuläre Songs im Gepäck, doch dem neuem Album fehlen einfach die grossen Hits. Mit "Locked Out Of Heaven" hat man auf alle Fälle bereits der beste Song des Albums ausgekoppelt. Bin gespannt, was als 2., 3. und 4. Single gewählt wird. "Show Me" als Sommer-Single und eine der Balladen als Winter-Single würden sicherlich noch funktionieren und beim mehrmaligen Hören werde ich sicher noch 1-2 Songs einen * mehr geben, aber bis jetzt bleibt "Unorthodox Jukebox" ein total durchschnittliches Album eines sehr guten Sängers. Vor allem mit nur 10 Songs hätte ich noch einen Kracher mehr erwartet. edit: Fast zwei Monate und einige Hörgänge später und ich muss mich korrigieren. Zwar fehlen dem Album wirklich die grossen Hits, doch es hat auch keine Hänger. Viele Songs sind sogar ganz gut. Eines der Alben die man sicherlich ohne grosse Probleme immer und immer wieder hören kann. Mittlerweile gefällt mir "Unorthodox Jukebox" auch etwa gleich gut wie der Vorgänger. Zwar fehlen diesem Album hier die Welthits à la "Grenade" und "Just The Way You Are", aber als Ganzes ist es doch überzeugend. TravD	****** I am very impressed with this album! Doo-Wops & Hooligans was going to be hard to top, but boy, has Bruno improved. Bruno has smartly sampled, and has grown as a vocalist. This is evident through the album, which has stepped up from his previous material. Unorthodox Jukebox has some much higher quality tracks, and more mature sounding tracks too (i.e. there are no The Lazy Song / Marry You momenets). But are there any tracks that are better than Just The Way You Are and Grenade? Only time will tell. Young Girls 5.6 Locked Out Of Heaven 4.9 Gorilla 5.6 Treasure 5.3 Moonshine 5.8 When I Was Your Man 5.5 Natalie 5.4 Show Me 5.5 Money Make Her Smile 4.6 If I Knew 5.1 Average = 5.33 --> 6 The highlights for me are Young Girls, Gorilla, Moonshine, and Show Me.

zaphod	***** Das 1. Album ist mir am Anfang auch nicht in Erinnerung geblieben. Finde sein 2. nicht schlechter, bin froh, jetzt nicht immer die gleichen Titel rauf und runter zu hören.

Kassettenrekorder	* Eines schönen Tages rauchte Bruo Mars im Tonstudio gar mächtig viel Gras. Das tat seiner Stimme wahrlich übel sogar die Kotze verfehlte glatt den Kübel. Stattdessen den Synthesizer vollgereihert, fand er dessen Klänge schön bescheuert und dachte: "Ich bin doch auch ein alter Feigling, deshalb heul' ich dazu noch wie ein Säugling und geb' mir noch 'ne Dröhnung Koks!" Entstand phlegmatisch unorthodox: Brunos neue Affen-Jukebox! ;)

Ale Dynasty	***** Die 1* sind sicher nicht fair - ihr habt kaum das ganze Album gehört. Das ist doch gute Musik, eben nicht so kommerziell/elektromüll und deswegen auch super toll. Ich finde dieses Album recht gut! Für jetzt eine 5*.

alleyt1989	*** I honestly feel like I wasted my money - I don't know why he tries to cover every genre, that was what I didn't like about Doo-Wops & Hooligans and what I find to be the weak point of this. Also his songwriting, while great at times, is way too suggestive and I find it jarring. He's probably trying to mature as an artist or whatever but it's still yuck. I love When I Was Your Man, If I Knew, Natalie and Young Girls but I hated a couple of tracks on here and the fact that it's only 35 minutes long really makes it seem to short. A couple of extra songs surely wouldn't have hurt. He'll probably release five or six from the album anyway, but I doubt any will be hugely successful (at least not as successful as Locked Out Of Heaven worldwide). Just a 3 for me, I'm kinda disappointed to be honest.

Al zijn alle nummers even sterk, toch lijkt me een totaalscore van vier sterren wel gerechtvaardigd. BeansterBarnes	*** I distinctly remember grooving to this when I first got it all on the back of the excellent 'Locked out of Heaven' and I was thinking maybe Bruno has done what so many male R&B pop singers haven't done, be consistant. Now i'm a sucker for his singles generally but the album as a whole is pretty much filler except for the delightful 'Moonshine'. Definitely not better than his first offering but becomes tiring very quickly. 35/60
