A capitalisation on the awesome-against-the-odds live performance at the Grammy awards that doesn't quite translate as well as an expanded studio recording, Kendrick is in very good form and the outro guitar solo is a little cheesy but nevertheless an improvement on the original, ultimately an average song is an average song even in the best performances. Dissappointing then, which is a shame since I would love to find more to like about them, but it's just not there yet. Still, it fixes the main flaw of the original song by continuing to gain momentum after the second chorus instead of the former's half-assed bridge, so I'll up it to a 4. I like what they did here, and I'll take anything that extends the original :P The transition from end of Kendrick back to the chorus is quite sloppy though. | |
When this was performed on the Grammy's i was thinking WTF? In all honesty it has made a track I hate into something good. |
